Polyferric Sulfate

Polyferric Sulfate (PFS) is a novel, efficient, and high-performance iron salt class inorganic polymer flocculant with the chemical formula [Fe₂(OH)ₙ(SO₄)₃ - n/₂]ₘ. It is known for its excellent solubility in water, forming a nearly colorless solution upon dissolution. PFS is characterized by its strong oxidizing properties and is typically acidic with a pH range of about 2-4.

PFS is widely used in the field of water treatment, particularly for the purification of drinking water, industrial water, and various types of industrial wastewater, including those from urban sewage and sludge dewatering. It is effective in removing suspended solids, colloidal substances, and some heavy metal ions from water through mechanisms such as electrical neutralization, adsorption bridging, and sedimentation entrapment. Additionally, PFS has the ability to decolorize, deodorize, and remove phosphorus, as well as to disinfect by killing bacteria and viruses under certain conditions. It is also used in the conditioning of sludge, improving its dewatering properties and reducing sludge volume.

The product is recognized for its robust coagulation performance, resulting in dense flocs and rapid sedimentation. It provides high water clarification quality without transferring harmful substances like aluminum, chlorine, or heavy metals, and it is considered safe and reliable. PFS operates effectively over a wide pH range of 4-11, with an optimal range of 6-9, causing minimal changes to the original water's pH and alkalinity, thus posing less corrosive risk to treatment equipment. It is also cost-effective, with the potential to save up to 20-50% on treatment costs compared to other methods.
